Buy less clothing in 2025? Use these smart tools to help you!
The beginning of the year is the time to reflect and this also applies to our way to consume and shop. The challenges to buy less clothing are getting popular, maybe you have also committed to shop less clothing in 2025? In this blogpost you can find some support to keep on track and succeed with your mission.
PLAN AND FOLLOW-UP YOUR OUTFITS AND ITEMS VIA A DIGITAL APP
The Belgian COSH initiative for sustainable fashion has published a smart wardrobe application to digitise your outfits and every piece of clothing you have. We work together with COSH to help our clients to use the app with their Supergoods items in 2025. But in principle it is already a breeze to import your current items in the app. Take a phone and with a few clicks your item is ready in your digital closet.
Once imported you can plan your outfits in the app, you can track the use of the clothing and even follow price per use of the item. This way you can follow the usage of the items in an easy way, and spot the items which are not worn, and do something about it. Maybe figure out a new outfit where they do work.
We advise you also to go shopping with the app, to avoid getting similar items to your closet, and to trace the styles which could help you get use of some items which you love but wear less. The app gives you a clear idea of your current items, more so than just opening your closet.
The use takes a little time to get used to, especially the import of the existing items and tracking the use, but it will help you to be intentional with your clothing, so the investment of time will pay back in a more curated closet and saving money and the environment. We warmly recommend to give the app a test, in combination with a mission to buy less in 2025. The app is free to use.
AVOID MISTAKE BUYS BY KNOWING EXACTLY YOUR BEST COLOURS AND A COHESIVE COLOUR PALETTE
Another clever way to help you with buying less is getting a personal colour palette by a colour consultation. You will get clarity on which colours go best with your natural colouring. These colours also go seamlessly together, so if you follow your palette in principle you can combine all pieces together and always have a harmonious colour match.
During a consultation you will also learn a lot of colours, get advice to make combinations for your colouring, get your ideal colours for make-up, hair and accessories, prints, jewellery and jeans colours. No more doubt when you are selecting a new pair of glasses, shoes or even a lipstick...
The benefit is that you can effectively avoid buying colours which you end up not wearing as they do not feel right, and that you only buy items in colours which all match nicely together, you can develop a smaller capsule closet based on a few of your best colours.
Since a few months you can get a colour analysis session at our own WOW colours studio at Supergoods. You can book a session for yourself or for 2 or 3 persons.
WHEN YOU BUY SOMETHING CHOOSE QUALITY AND SLOW FASHION - AND REPAIR
By using the digital app and your personalised colour chart you get a long way to make conscious long term choices while shopping, and avoiding spontaneous purchases often driven by discounts or inspiration seen on others.
You can make even better choices when you pay attention to quality, the materials, the fit of the piece of clothing. Try to select always natural materials and take good care of your clothing. Repair or have repaired when necessary, instead of buying a new item as replacement.
IF YOU HAVE YOU ITEMS WHICH GET NO OR VERY LITTLE WEAR, SWAP THEM
Since last year you can offer your Supergoods clothing to be sold again in our AS GOOD AS NEW collection. The offering is easy, you take a few photos and send the information to us info@supergoods.be. We do expect the items to be as good as new, like the name says. You can shop the collection offline, in our stores in Antwerp and Mechelen, and see the items in our AS GOOD AS NEW Instagram account.
Otherwise you can organise a closet sale, or swap with your friends, to give something you do not wear and get something that you would wear instead - all without buying a new item.
